Hello Everyone;
As many of you know, or may have heard, some sites went black on Wednesday in protest to the bills SOPA and PIPA. 13 senators walked out the following day also opposing them. The White House issued a statement asking their public to help them find a solution, or any solutions that would aid them in SOPA without interfering with the free web.
Yesterday Mega Upload was shut down and the owners arrested. In light of this take down the infamous hacker group, Anonymous hacked into the Department of Justice (DOJ) and several other government sites and shut them down. A dumb move and they will get even dumber as time goes on.
This week Facebook reveled they had shut down the Russian hackers Koobface, but couldn't find the people behind it.
Several sites have made statements claiming that Russia and China are the biggest internet thieves of the century. And the dirt just gets higher and higher.
So what is the solution to stopping online piracy & protecting copyright holders? Few have responded.
Is it limiting our regional accesses? maybe.
Is it shutting down file sharing software and sites? we still have email Ha.
Is it removing our ability to shop online? don't even go there.
Is it removing hardware and software that enables us to copy and burn or read and write? Doubt it.
Is it policing the web and arresting people? Of course not.
On the one hand we all want to SOPA but on the other hand we all want access to stuff, any stuff we want.
So what is the solution to stopping online piracy & protecting copyright holders without policing the web?
Oh and I should mention this because it very important to scrap booking and if these bills are passed would have a great impact on the kits we make, share and sell.
Did you know that if you take a picture of someone else's work, whether it be a piece of jewelry, a nicknack, or anything that is not made by you, that you may be arrested? This doesn't include natural things like flowers, leaves which no one has claim to.
Yup, see that object was made by someone who holds a copyright on it and the minute you share it or sell it, you've infringed on someone's copyrights. Think about that for a while :)
